Renewables

Welcome to the North Scotland Industries Group
                                 – energising business, promoting growth

The North of Scotland is the ideal location for assembly, testing and production of renewables projects, whether they use wind, wave or tidal power. It also contains an extensive and successful hydro power resource. The facilities and benefits for each are detailed below:

 Wind Power

-         Large areas of unpopulated land with ideal conditions for wind farms

-         An advantageous system of grants and backing from councils and enterprise agencies

-         Ideal ports for the use of importing and exporting of components

-         Excellent fabrication facilities

-         An experienced supply and service chain of local contractors

Wave and Tidal

In addition to the above, the northern coast and tidal currents provide ideal testing and production sites for wave and tidal projects. These range from the powerful tides of the Pentland Firth between Orkney and the mainland of Scotland, to the ideal wave conditions offered by the north west coast of Scotland and its islands.

Hydro

Scotland already has an extensive hydro facility, and the North of Scotland is home to many of the experienced contractors and service providers in this market – with more specialist knowledge of local geography, weather conditions, and access availability, they are the ideal partners for undertaking all sizes of projects in some of the more remote areas of the country.
